The story starts with the system installation when I built the system … where the HDMI driver was part of the ATI Catalyst installation. I run a Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit system with a Sapphire, ATI Radeon 5770 video card. I wouldn’t bet my computer’s life on it J … so make sure you are ready for trouble before installing the recommended fix! I am writing this up for my records … and publishing the write-up in case it can help someone else. The upshot is that the ATI HDMI Driver is actually a Realtek HDMI driver. Searching the web indicated numerous persons with similar problems … and I propose that there are more problems out there … but the Windows update function seems to provide a reasonable driver. Well … I’ve just burned a lot of time on a detective work to hunt down an ATI HDMI driver … I was trying to locate the latest drivers to get over some issues with Windows.
